There is magic to experience and photograph in this Dry Country!

 

 

On this Photo-tour you will discover the unsurpassed beauty of the Karoo and the people that live in it through its back roads and small towns.  We will be photowalking through Matjiesfontein, Sutherland, Price Albert and Oudtshoorn. This is a photographic experience that you don’t want to miss.

 

There are a minimum of four and maximum of ten people per photographer on this tour so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Non Photographers are welcome at the same price as photographers

Itinerary:

A detailed itinerary will be emailed through to all confirmed bookings.

We have created fixed workshops during the tour to ensure that we cover as many aspects of photography as possible. These are worked around the best light, travel times, check in times and meal times.

The tour does also allow for free time as the mornings are early as the nights are long.

Includes:

Accredited South African Professional Photographers who will be on hand through out the weekend to assist you – no matter what skill level you are. A second Professional Photographer will join the tour once 10 people have confirmed.

Excludes:

Camera Gear, Accommodation, Meals, Transport, Entrance Fees and any expenses of a personal nature.

Accommodation:

The Photographer/s stay in 3-Star accommodation with en-suite bathrooms. Upon confirmation, you will receive the details of their accommodation so that you can secure your own accommodation at the same place as theirs or close by in the accommodation of your choice. If you would like thephotowalkers.com to book your accommodation – a booking fee of R500 is charged.

Transport:

thephotowalkers.com are offering shared transport from Hermanus. Its by far the nicest way to do the tours and its good fun too!

The shared transport will depart at 09h30 on the 16th of November and return at roughly 16h00 on the 19th of November.

You are welcome to self drive.

Should you require airport transfers between CT International Airport en route — let us know when you fill out the booking form above. We will gladly assist you with logistics such as times and flight details of other photowalkers.

The shared transport cost through-out the tour is additional and divided by the number of people that have booked. We calculate the cost of this a week before departure once everyone has confirmed and let everyone know. The cost is shared between the number of people using the service.

Meeting Point and Ending Point for those Self-Driving:

Meet at 15h30 in Oudtshoorn on Friday the 16th of Novemebr 2018 for the first workshop – once you have checked in.

The Photo-Tour will end in Matjiesfontein at 14h30 on Monday the 19th of November 2018.

Price and Payment Policy:

Please fill out the form under the button at the top of the page – ‘ENQUIRIES AND BOOKINGS’.

There are drop-downs that prompt you to tell us if you would like to share transport and what your accommodation requirements are. Once we have received this information from you, we will send you a quote.

A deposit of R2500.00 is required to secure you place and the balance is payable 2 weeks before departure. (3 November 2018). There is limited space so early booking is advisable.

 A 10% discount is offered on the Photography Instruction to our existing clients, our past and present 52-Week Challengers and Registered Camera Club Members (PSSA – please supply details). This will reflect on your quote.

What to Bring:

In order to achieve the most from the Accredited South African Professional Photographer, a camera body with a manual mode function is recommended. However, all makes of cameras are welcome. 

A tripod is essential (in the event that you do not own a tripod you are welcome to hire one from thephotowalkers.com at a cost of R200.00 for the duration of the tour). Pre-booking is essential. 

Head torches for the evenings.

What to Wear:

Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended. Wind breakers come in handy for photographing at dusk and dawn and pockets are useful. thephotowalkers.com will communicate with you closer to the date of departure should there any be any inclement weather expected that would encourage additional items of clothing that are not typical.

Non-photographers:

Persons over the age of 18 are welcome to join as non-photographers at the same rate as photographers.

Fitness:

A certain level of fitness is required to enable you to transport your own camera bag, tripod and accessories. Reasonably short to medium distances are covered while photowalking. If during ‘free time’ you would like to partake in other adventures, additional fitness may be required.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations within 1 month of the tour: No refund will be issued. 

Cancellations more than 1 month before the tour: 50% refund will be issued on any monies paid to date – less any costs incurred.

 In the event that thephotowalkers.com has to cancel the tour for any reason what-so-ever, a full refund will be issued immediately.
