There is magic to experience and photograph in this Dry Country!

 

 

 

On this Photo-tour you will discover the unsurpassed beauty of the Karoo and the people that live in it through its back roads and small towns.  We will be photowalking through Matjiesfontein, Sutherland, Price Albert and Oudtshoorn. This is a photographic experience that you don’t want to miss.

 

There are a minimum of four and maximum of twelve people per photographer on this tour so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Itinerary:

A detailed itinerary will be emailed through to all confirmed bookings. We travel through Oudtshoorn, Prince Albert and  Sutherland – with extra back-road stops along the way.

Transport, Meeting Point and Ending Point:

Getting there:

  • We will be sharing transport from Hermanus. Its by far the nicest way to do the tours and its good fun too!
  • The transport will depart from Hermanus at 09h00. If you are staying in Hermanus  meet us at our Gallery – The Photo Shed. (Shed 34, The Market Squares, Marine Drive).
  • If you fly in to Cape Town International Airport, we can help recommend transport for you to Hermanus. Please bear in mind that it is a one and a half hour drive. If you would like to spend the night in Hermanus on the night of the 16th of November – let us know and we can help arrange accommodation.
  • If you are driving from Cape Town – we can arrange safe off-street parking for you to leave your car while we are on tour.
  • If you fly into George Airport, we can pick you up at 13h00 on the 17th of November.
  • We can also collect you en-route between Hermanus and Oudtshoorn if you are staying in any of those areas. 

Getting back:

We will not be going past George Airport on the way back to Hermanus. Should you need to fly home – please book your tickets from 19h00 on Monday 20 November departing from CT International Airport – or on Tuesday 21 November. As above, we can assist with these logistics.

The transport cost through-out the tour is additional and divided by the number of people that have booked. We calculate the cost of this two weeks before departure and let everyone know.

The tour does also allow for free time as the mornings are early and the nights are long.

Price:

The price is per person is just under R1250.00 per person per day – R4950.00 for the photographic instruction. 

Non-Photographers are welcome at the same price as photographers.

A 10% discount is offered to our existing clients, our 52-Week Challengers and Registered Camera Club Members (PSSA).

A deposit of R2500.00 is required to secure you place and the balance is payable 2 weeks before departure. (3 November 2017).

Includes:

An Accredited South African Professional Photographer who will be on hand through out the weekend to assist you – no matter what skill level you are.

Feedback on images and one-on-one instruction. (pre-booking only)

Excludes:

Camera gear and accessories, accommodation, meals, entrance fees and transport, (There is shared transport departing from Cape Town/Hermanus with Airport Shuttles offered from CT before or from George Airport en-route. You are welcome to Self Drive.)

What to Bring:

In order to achieve the most from the Accredited South African Professional Photographer, a camera body with a manual mode function is recommended. However, all makes of cameras are welcome. A tripod is essential (in the event that you do not own a tripod you are welcome to hire from thephotowalkers.com at a cost of R200.00 for the duration of the tour). Pre-booking is essential. Head torches for the evenings.

What to Wear:

Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended. Wind breakers come in handy for photographing at dusk and dawn and pockets are useful. thephotowalkers.com will communicate with you closer to the date of departure should there any be any inclement weather expected that would encourage additional items of clothing that are not typical.

Non-photographers:

Persons over the age of 12 are welcome to join as non-photographers at the same rate as photographers.

Fitness:

A certain level of fitness is required to enable you to transport your own camera bag, tripod and accessories. Reasonably short to medium distances are covered while photowalking. If during ‘free time’ you would like to partake in other adventures, additional fitness may be required.

Photographic Skills:

None! Photographers of all skills level are welcome. Come Join Us!

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations within 1 week of the tour: No refund will be issued on full booking amount. Cancellations more than 1 week before the event: 50% refund will be issued on any monies paid to date. In the event that thephotowalkers.com has to cancel the tour for any reason what-so-ever, a full refund will be issued immediately.
