A Light-stalking, beauty catching, adventure-seeking Educational Photo-Tour over the Spring Festival Weekend in Magoeskloof!

On this Educational Photo-tour you will explore the entire area surrounding Magoebaskloof and all that it has to offer. We will visit stalls in village green, the orchid show at the Spring Festival, Azaleas in full bloom, Cheerio Gardens, waterfalls, manicured gardens, a cemetery, pine and indigenous and pine forests, tree-lined gravel roads and many birds!

There are a minimum of four and maximum of ten people per photographer on this tour so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Dates:  21-24 September 2018. BOOKINGS ARE OPEN.

As this falls over a long weekend, early booking is advisable.

Non Photographers are welcome at the same price as photographers.

Accommodation can be arranged at the same place that the photographers are staying.

  • The price is from R1500.00 per person sharing. There are self catering facilities and there is a room fee and not a per person fee.
  • If you are a single and don’t mind sharing a room with another client – please let us know on the check out page.

You are welcome to book your own accommodation at a hotel / campsite etc and meet the group for the Educational Workshops.


  • are offering shared transport from Johannesburg. Its by far the nicest way to do the tours and its good fun too!
  • The transport will depart from JHB at 09h30 on the 21st of September 2018. You will need to Uber/be dropped off at the meeting point in Westcliff as there is no parking available at the departure point. You will also need to be collected from there when we return at roughly 16h30 on the 24th of September.

The transport cost through-out the tour is additional and divided by the number of people that have booked. We calculate the cost of this a week before departure once everyone has confirmed and let everyone know. The cost is shared between the number of people using the service.

You are welcome to self drive.

Meeting Point and Ending Point for those who are Self-Driving:

Meet at 15h30 on the Patio of The Magoebaskloof Hotel on Friday 21 September 2018 for the first workshop – once you have checked in.

This Photo-Tour will end in Magoesbaskloof at 12h00 on Monday 24 September 2018.

Price and Payment Policy:

Please fill out the form under the button at the top of the page – ‘ENQUIRIES AND BOOKINGS’.

There are drop-downs that prompt you to tell us if you would like to share transport and what your accommodation requirements are. Once we have received this information from you, we will send you a quote.

A deposit of R2500.00 is required to secure you place and the balance is payable 2 weeks before departure. (10 September 2018). There is limited space so early booking is advisable.

A 10% discount is offered on the Photography Instruction to our existing clients, our past and present 52-Week Challengers and Registered Camera Club Members (PSSA – please supply details). This will reflect on your quote.


An Accredited South African Professional Photographer who will be on hand through out the weekend to assist you – no matter what skill level you are. A second Professional Photographer will join the tour once 10 people have confirmed.


Camera Gear, Accommodation, Meals, Transport, Entrance Fees and any expenses of a personal nature.

What to Bring:

In order to achieve the most from the Accredited South African Professional Photographer, a camera body with a manual mode function is recommended. However, all makes of cameras are welcome.

A tripod is essential (in the event that you do not own a tripod you are welcome to hire one from at a cost of R200.00 for the duration of the tour). Pre-booking is essential.

Head torches for the evenings.

What to Wear:

Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended. Wind breakers come in handy for photographing at dusk and dawn and pockets are useful. will communicate with you closer to the date of departure should there any be any inclement weather expected that would encourage additional items of clothing that are not typical.


Persons over the age of 18 are welcome to join as non-photographers at the same rate as photographers.


A certain level of fitness is required to enable you to transport your own camera bag, tripod and accessories. Reasonably short to medium distances are covered while photowalking. If during ‘free time’ you would like to partake in other adventures, additional fitness may be required.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations within 1 month of the tour: No refund will be issued.

Cancellations more than 1 month before the tour: 50% refund will be issued on any monies paid to date – less any costs incurred.

In the event that has to cancel the tour for any reason what-so-ever, a full refund will be issued immediately.
