West Coast Daisies 2018 (30 Aug – 3 Sept 2018)

Four days of the wild, arid, cultural & very beautiful West Coast while it is covered in a carpet of Namaqualand Daisies! Photography does not get better than this..

On this photo-tour meander up the rugged coastline and even venture into the Cedarberg Mountains to photograph the carpets of flowers. This is our third trip to the Daisies and it is always a phenomenal treat. The West Coast boasts many wonderful photographic opportunities and we have found them and cant wait to share them with you! The types of photography you will learn include landscape, seascape, close up, macro, portraiture, interior and exterior architecture.

There are a minimum of  six and a maximum of twelve people on this tour so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

This photographic tour starts and ends at Cape Town International. Additional pickups and drop-offs in Cape Town can be arranged and will be split amongst the number of people requiring transport.

We have created fixed workshops during the tour to ensure that we cover as many aspects of photography as possible. These are worked around the best light, travel times, check in times and meal times.

There is also time between the workshops for each photographer to have one-on-one time with the professional instructors – to assist to assist with their camera set up, camera bag and checking of camera settings.  These are 30 minute time slots and need to be booked in advance.

The professional instructors will also go through each persons photographs through out the tour outside of the workshops – to assess, crit and comment on their images.

Price and Payment Policy:

The price per person is R1250.00 per day.  (2 half days and 2 full days)  R3750.00 per person for professional instruction (This price excludes transport, accommodation and food).  Accommodation can be arranged at the same place that the photographer is staying at (3 star bed and breakfast) at R550 per person per night.


An Accredited South African Professional Photographer who will be on hand through out the weekend to assist you – no matter what skills level you are.


Camera gear and accessories, airport transfers to the start and end of the tour, transport during the tour (although you are welcome to travel with the photographer and share the transport costs if you would like to) accommodation, meals and entrance fees.


Accommodation can be arranged at the same place that the photographer is staying at (3 star bed and breakfast) at R550 per person per night for the first two nights. Alternatively, you can book your own accommodation at a hotel / campsite etc and meet the group for the educational photowalks.

What to Bring:

In order to achieve the most from the Accredited South African Professional Photographer, a camera body with a manual mode function is recommended. However, all makes of cameras are welcome. A tripod is essential.

What to Wear:

Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended. Wind breakers come in handy for photographing at dusk and dawn and pockets are useful. thephotowalkers.com will communicate with you closer to the date of departure should there any be any inclement weather expected that would encourage additional items of clothing that are not typical.


Persons over the age of 12 are welcome to join as non-photographers at the same rate as photographers.


A certain level of fitness is required to enable you to transport your own camera bag, tripod and accessories. Reasonably short to medium distances are covered while photowalking.
If during ‘free time’ you would like to partake in other adventures, additional fitness may be required.

Meeting Point:

Meet at the Mugg and Bean at Cape Town International Airport at 09h00 on the day of the start of the tour.
Hotel transfers in and around Cape Town can be arranged during that morning and thephotowalkers.com will transport you to the airport to meet the group if necessary.

Return Point:

Drop off is at Mugg and Bean at Cape Town International Airport at 15h00 on the last day of the tour. Hotel transfers in and around Cape Town can also be arranged during that afternoon.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations within 1 week of the tour: No refund will be issued on full booking amount. Cancellations more than 1 week before the event: 50% refund will be issued on any monies paid to date. In the event that thephotowalkers.com has to cancel the tour for any reason what-so-ever, a full refund will be issued immediately.
